Dec 1,2007; Kolkata: So, Taslima Nasreen has taken the easy way out. She has declared that she would trim down certain parts of Dwikhondito (I guess you know those parts) to bring peace back in this region.

What does this mean – she has sacrificed her tongue, her freedom and her faith to buy peace.

But, can we call this situation peaceful? Aren’t we supporting the fundamentalists in the process? Aren’t we making them more powerful! Isn’t it a statement that, we are succumbing to communal pressure – if you have the POWER, you can do whatever you want.

I feel pity for Taslima – she has been torn into so many pieces like, freedom of her speech, her rights and the rights of others as a human being, religion, common faith, politics blab blab blab…

I feel sorry for Taslima who had to knell down to some religious fundamentalists.

And Hasim Abdul Halim, Speaker of the Assembly, welcomed the decision saying “We congratulate her”.

I pity you.
